I was Un-Hired!

Yesterday i recieved a call from a company called Stratis Construction wanting me to come in for an interview. So this morning i went in for my interview for the Administration Assistant position they needed to fill. I have to say that the interview went well and they seemed very pleased with me, so i felt that i had landed the job. I was told as the interview ended that i would get a call from them in a couple of days (coming from the owner himself) so i was feeling pretty confident.
Well it turns out i ended up recieving a call back just a few hours later from Mike (the supervisor) saying that they wanted to go ahead and hire me on and would like to start me on Monday, and i thought "great!" i did say before he hung up that i had one question and that was we didn't discuss what my pay rate would be. It was already mentioned during the interview that the pay was between 12$-15$ and hour DOE. Well Mike had said that he would talk to Stratis the owner because they hadnt discussed that yet and he would give me a call right back. So i was really excited about it and thought how wonderful that everything seems to be lining up perfectly with us just recieving word that we got our house and just getting this great job with benefits and everything. But........
So i waited for his call back, and finally after a couple of hours Mike called me back. This is what he said "um....we are going to have to hold off for another week, we want to get through some interviews we have set up and i will give you a call in a week."
After i hung up i think that's when i really started to sink into what had just happened. They just Un-hired me! i couldn't believe that just happend. How unprofessional, how do you just do something like that? So after thinking about it for a while, i decided i wouldn't tell greg they un-hired me until he got home from work. So i told greg and he said that we should email them to try and clarify whats going on. Like: should i still continue looking for employment? are you still considering me for the position? and the fact that its really important to me to get a job now is a huge deal to me. It was a very polite and professional email, totally harmless by the way. So hopefully i will get a reply back tomorrow clarifying whats going on.
So until then, i'm going to continue looking for a job. To be honest i feel pretty dicouraged right about finding a job, but i know the lord has a plan for me and that something better is coming in my path. I'll just leave it in his hands.
