So today i was handing my resumes out (again) I drove all the way to a buisness called Crossroads Institute in Scottsdael, and from my house to there is a half and hour drive. They were looking for an Administrative Assistant and i wanted to hand in my resume personally and introduce myself to the hiring manager. So i go up to the receptionist, This is how the conversation went down for word.
Receptionist: " Hi, how can i help you?"
Me: Yes, i wanted to speak with LJ crnadel. Is she in?"
Receptionist: "Ummm..what is this in regards to?"
Me: " I'm here in regards to the Administrative Assistant position."
Receptionist: "Do you have an interview or something?" (with a snarky, retarded glare)
Me: "No, i want to give her my resume and introduce myself, I only want a few minutes of her time.Is she in?"
Receptionist: "Oh, well she is but she isn't taking copies of resumes. She only reviews them if they are summitted through career builder. Sorry."
Me: "Are you serious?"
Receptionist: "yeah, sorry."
Me: "So you won't take my resume to her if i handed it to you?"
Receptionist: "yeah, she won't take it, sorry."
Me: "well that would have been nice to know, she should have put that on her job add instead of her contact information, phone number and business address. She should have put on there that she will only accept resumes if they are only submitted through careet builder. I just drove all the way from north glendale just to hand in my resume to her and introduce myself, but i guess it's too much trouble to HER to take my resume right now. Thanks, that's real professional."
Receptionist: "yeah, im sorry there is nothing i can do. Also you have to be at least 18 years or older to apply for the position."
Me: "Really? So i guess being 22 would qualify me for that then."
Receptionist: " oh, im sorry you look so young." (chuckling)
Me: " well im sure if you would have looked at my resume, you would have seen that i was older than i look."
-when i said that last part i was thinking in my head if i should say "i wish i could say the same for you" ha, ha..
SO that was it, then i walked out all pissed off. I hate Scottsdale and all the fake old people. When i was driving around there today i had this old lady talking on her sell phone riding my butt at 55 in a 45 zone. And she was also in her freaking little sports car. I can't stand SCOTTSDALE! I think that whole experiance with the receptionist just really got me in a bad mood today and i just hate everything, and i hate job hunting and dealing with jerks who don't want to talk to me or even give me an interview. This just sucks, and it makes me really dicouraged and down. Especially that guy with Stratis Construction about hiring me and then unhiring me. WHat the heck?!
Anyways, that was my day.

wow. that is ridiculous. i know there is a perfect job out there waiting for you.
Oh, Michelle! What a rough time you have had! I'm sure it's not very funny now, but think of all the laughs you will have down the road about these experiences. And who knows, maybe those first guys will still "re-hire" you...Don't give up hope!
